Paper based test

Note

LISTENING
- 4 Sections
- 40 QUESTIONS (MCQs, Fill Ups, Answer in 1 to 3 words and/or numbers, Map Filling)
- Time: about 40 min
- Difficulty increases with each section
- You will hear audio and you’ll have to fill blanks or choose correct option.
- Audio will be played only once.
- Write answers in question paper as you listen and then copy the answers in answer sheet. You will have 10 mins to copy answers to answer sheet.
- Your Answers should be 1 to 3 word/s long. You do not have to write complete sentences.
- Test headphones and volume before test.
GT Reading
- 60 minutes
- 5 PASSAGES of general interest like notice, company handbooks, advertisement, menu, etc)
- No extra time for writing answers on answer sheet.
AC Writing Task 1
- charts, tables, maps, diagrams
- Time: 20 minutes.
- Word Count: At least 150 words.
AC Writing Task 2
- Time: 40 minutes.
- Word Count: At least 250 words.
Speaking
- Face-to-face interview (one to one interaction)
- 3 sections
- Time: about 11-14 mins
- INTRO and interview (CONVERSATION): (4-5 MINS) You will be asked general questions related to family, work, studies, interest, etc
- THE LONG TURN (CUE CARDS) : (2 MIN) You will be given booklet or cue card about a particular topic. One min to prepare. Can make notes during this time what you are going to say. No interruption by examiner.
- EXTENSION (FOLLOW UP QUESTIONS, CONVERSATION): (4-5 MINS) : You will be asked questions and answers related to part 2, discuss more general ideas and issues.
Ac Reading
- 60 minutes
- 3 PASSAGES of academic context like research, general issues, society, etc taken from books, magazines, etc
- Question types: Multiple choice, rue/False/Not given, Yes/No/Not given, Matching headings, Matching sentence endings, Sentence completion, Summary/note/table /flow-chart completion, Short-answer questions
- No extra time for writing answers on answer sheet.
GT WRITING
- Letter (150+ words) – 20 min
- Essay (250+ words) – 40 min

- TALKING ABOUT BANDS:
- IELTS tests your English skills on a scale of 1 to 9.
- Each module is graded separately and you get an overall grade.

- A minimum band score 6.5 or above is required.
